Perhaps the best feature of the Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel product is that it delivers a pH-neutral formulation. This feature allows it to deliver robust cleaning power against rust, dirt, and other continents without ruining the paint work on your painted wheels, for example.
Being water-based, it’s also lacquer-friendly and you can use it on a regular basis without worrying about damaging or tarnishing your wheels after prolonged exposure.
In short, it has the cleaning properties of an acid or alkaline-based wheel cleaner without any of the associated drawbacks. It’s win-win!
How Do You Apply Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel?
The application procedure is pretty straightforward (another bonus!). Rinse the wheels first using a garden hose or a pressure washer so that the loose debris gets rinsed off and the wheel cleaner only gets in contact with stubborn debris.
Next, spray it on all the spokes and the inner barrel and let it dwell for three to five minutes. Don’t go gung-ho here. A little solution goes a long way, which is why this is such a cost-effective product. Also, take care to ensure the solution doesn’t end up between the brake pads and the rotor.
As you’re waiting, you’ll notice that the solution will slowly turn a deep reddy/purple colour as it reacts with the surface contaminants. Once it’s gone an intense shade of red/purple, it’s time to agitate the solution with a soft detailing brush. You don’t need to be forceful. Just work the solution into the wheel as if you were painting it.
In fact, with this particular solution, you don’t need to agitate at all. However, I like to do it on heavily soiled wheels to make sure everything comes off.
During agitation, you’ll start to notice just how clean the wheel is becoming underneath. Once you’ve agitated the solution, it’s time to break out the hose (or preferably pressure washer) to wash off the solution to reveal wheels that look good as new!
Can You Use Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel on Other Car Surfaces?
Even though it’s pH-neutral, there are some precautions you should take when using this excellent cleaning product elsewhere. It’s engineered for brake dust and rust, which is obviously most often a problem on the wheels of a vehicle.
That said, you should be able to use it on painted body parts. I would strongly urge you to try a dedicated bodywork cleaner rather than a wheel cleaner. However, if you’re in a bind, try a small sample area first and then proceed with caution from there. Avoid getting it in contact with plastic trims, as it will probably tarnish and damage them.
